THE LAUNDRY

Fresh FAQs

It would be advantageous but it definitely isn’t a requirement; the training provided to franchisees covers all aspects of running a successful laundry.

A Fresh laundry franchisee is someone who is motivated, dedicated, a team player, confident, is a good communicator, a friendly peoples person who wants to succeed and make a difference in his or her community.

The business model requires an owner operator to manage his or her own store; in certain circumstances (for instance where a franchisee owns more than one store) a manager may be appointed but it will impact on the bottom line.

It is imperative that training is not only provided as an initial once off to prepare the franchisee to open a store, but is continuous and lasts for the duration of the franchise agreement. Training comprises two components; namely theory and practical.

Theory covers all aspects required to ensure the successful running of a laundry and includes topics as diverse as the Consumer Protection Act and Labour Relations Act to the financial management of the business and would also cover the franchisor – franchisee relationship.

Practical training covers all aspects related to the operational side of the business and would include the laundry equipment used as well as the different laundry processes - from the weighing of garments on their delivery to their folding, packaging and presentation on collection.

Franchisor support is offered on many fronts and includes store visits (which are essential to quickly identify and rectify any operational issues); dedicated staff with the necessary expertise and experience who are only a phone call away for franchisees; a supplier chain that understands the franchise system; and commercial equipment that is covered by a 3 year national warranty and is backed by Africa’s leading supplier and biggest holder of commercial laundry equipment and spare parts.

Fresh offers two different business models; namely Fresh “Express”, and Fresh “Laundry”. A turnkey, fully equipped Fresh store starts at R380 000 (excluding VAT); also bear in mind that you will require an additional working capital budget of at least R40 000. Head office does not offer finance but potential franchisees are assisted with any finance application.
