Red Wine Stain Removal

Had a bit of a rough night only to find your favourite tablecloth stained with red wine blotches? Just follow these 5 easy steps to ensure removal, and leave your tablecloth looking as good as new.

It's important to treat the stain as soon as possible. The longer you leave it, the  more set the stain will become.

You will need: cool water, table salt, recently boiled water, and old cloth & some white spirit vinegar.

Firstly, dab the fabric with an old cloth. Never rub the wine stain, just gently dab it to remove any extra moisture which has not been absorbed.

Then, pour some cool (not cold) water over the fabric. I find it easiest if you place a bowl under the stained section of the fabric, as this will catch the water.

Pour salt over the stain. Be generous with the salt. Leave it to sit for a moment. The quicker you can get the salt onto the stain, the better.

Next, pour some recently boiled water over the stain. Leave it for a minute, and the stain should lift. If the stain is very stubborn, you will need to use a vinegar-water solution.

MIx 1 part vinegar with 2 parts water and soak the fabric in that solution.

Once that has soaked for a bit, pop it into your machine or drop it at your nearest Fresh Laundry to having it looking as good as new.
